Recognition of the Scheme

Using the Scheme towards top awards in Scouting

Volunteering as an ESYL counts towards the volunteering section of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards which in turn can be counted towards the Chief Scout Platinum, Chief Scout Diamond and Queen Scout Award. The following The Adventure Begins leaflet explains Scouting supporting the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, including the timescales for each award.

Included within the Chief Scout Platinum, Chief Scout Diamond and Queen Scout Award are also requirements under the categories of International, Community and Values (ICV). The ESYL may run certain activities run within their section that may count towards the ICV requirements. For example, the ICV list for the Platinum award has the suggestion of organising a series of two evening programmes for another section on an international theme agreed with a mentor. More information on the Chief Scout Platinum, Chief Scout Diamond and Queen Scout Award and the activities included in the International, Community and Values (ICV) lists for each Chief Scout Award can be found Reach the Top guide.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
