We have four thriving sections here at 1st Shiremoor: a Squirrel drey, a Beaver colony, a Cub pack and a Scout troop. Our Group Scout Leader, Laura, manages the waiting list and movements within the Scout Group for our young people. 1st Shiremoor Scout Group is a popular and successful group, and it is normal for our sections within the group to run at full capacity. Therefore, entry numbers to all sections must be managed.

Our youngest section Squirrels meet on a Wednesday evening at St Mark’s Church, Shiremoor.

  • Squirrels (4 – 6 Yrs): 5:30pm – 6:30pm

Our older three sections meet on a Monday night at Holystone Primary School at the following times:

  • Beavers (6 – 8 Yrs): 6:15pm – 7:15pm
  • Cubs (8 – 10½ Yrs): 6:30pm – 7:45pm
  • Scouts (10½ – 14 Yrs): 7:30pm – 9:00pm

Please note when applying that we currently have a waiting list for three of the four sections in the group Squirrels, Beaver and Cubs.

For more information on our individual sections please click the relevant button below, to add your child to our waiting list use the button entitled “Add your child to our waiting list”

When places become available in any of our Sections, they will be offered based on the following order of priority considering length of time on the waiting list at each priority level:

  1. Children of leaders and executive committee members with key roles. Our priority is to provide enthusiastic adult leadership in each section enabling us to run a balanced and exciting programme for our young people. We are always recruiting new leaders and therefore offer priority to children of leaders and committee members.
  2. Siblings of Beavers, Cubs or Scouts currently enrolled
  3. Members of another Scout Group (Outside of the District) moving into the Area
  4. Anyone else on the waiting list.
