Well I believe we’ve had our last section session this evening of this Scouting year.
This has surely been one of the most strangest, stressful times in many of our lives.
I would like to thank you all for the efforts each and everyone of you have put in since lockdown. The Zoom sessions have been different and admittedly not everyone’s cup of tea. What has been delivered has been engaging, entertaining and diverse. Those that have attended have expressed how much they have enjoyed what we have continued to deliver in the brave new virtual world.
We have enjoyed camping at home, Virtual Marra, cooking cakes in mugs as well as quizzes and escape rooms, to name but a few.
The young people have continued to work towards badges and some have achieved Chief Scout awards which is truly incredible.
We accept we have missed out on face to face meetings and group activities such as Marra. This has been hard on everyone involved. However there is hope of positive change and we will continue to work hard to ensure we can return to face to face Scouting in a safe and appropriate way. It might feel a little different but we will take every small and necessary step together.
I would like to say a special thank you to our tremendous Leadership Team across Beavers, Cubs and Scouts as well as some talented Young Leaders and parent helpers.
I would also like to thank our Executive Committee for all of their ongoing behind the scenes work, decision making and planning.
We cannot continue without our fabulous and talented young people and you their parents, carers and families. We value everyone one of you and thank you kindly for all of your ongoing support and generosity.
We promise to keep you continually updated as to the progression of our return. Likewise we would like you to speak with us if you have any questions or issues about future plans.
So please try and have a good summer. Rest, relax and recuperate. Value your families and loved ones and stay safe and well.
We will see you all soon.
My very best wishes
Group Scout Leader.
