Programme Delivery Roles
We are looking to appoint this role to lead, strengthen and support the Scout Team in planning and running an adventurous, challenging, exciting and varied programme of activities. To give the young members of the Scout Troop (10 1/2 – 14 year olds) the opportunity to have fun and learn new skills while taking part in many different types of activities – including lots of adventures, challenges, trips, visits, visitors and possibly even the occasional weekend camp.
Providing ‘everyday adventure’ is what we do!
Our volunteer leaders are people just like you, but working together they make extraordinary things happen by providing a wide range of activities on a weekly basis. These activities are based around a programme of progressive learning and achievement, ultimately leading to the young person being awarded Chief Scout Gold Awards. We are open to boys and girls from all faiths, backgrounds and abilities, and welcome everyone. It is thanks to volunteers like you that we’re able to have a real and positive impact on the lives of our young people, our volunteers and our local community.
Volunteering is both fun and rewarding, allowing you to feel empowered and giving you a sense of pride. No experience is required, you don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger, and knowing how to put up a tent is entirely optional.
Assistant Cub Scout Leader
We are looking to appoint this role to strengthen and support the Cub Team in supporting the planning and delivery of a safe, exciting and stimulating programme for the Cub Pack (8 – 10 1/2 year olds) taking into account the needs, interests and abilities of the Young People.
Introduce the Cubs to adventure and excitement, giving them the opportunity to be creative, get involved with their local community and experience exciting outdoor skills and take part in adventurous activities, as well as camps and residential experiences.
Provide regular opportunities and support the Cubs to express their views on the programme and running of the Cub Pack, and then helping to ensure that those views are taken into account.
You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger, and knowing how to put up a tent is entirely optional. Our doors are open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and it’s thanks to volunteers like you that we’re able to make even the smallest change in our young people’s lives.
Beaver / Cub Section Assistant
We now need a fun, committed person to support young people, helping run games and activities as part of weekly meetings. As part of a small team, you will help plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people, helping them achieve badges and awards.
Enthusiasm, an empathy with young people and a sense of humour are a must. But we can teach you the rest. We’ll support you all the way and ensure you get the training and support you need.
We’re looking for someone who can encourage our young people to take that leap, make that jump, get up and carry on regardless. From map reading to crate stacking it’s all about having the confidence to give it a go. Teamwork starts with a game, whether that’s stuck in the mud or dodgeball. It’s about learning how to work together to achieve a goal, how to get along, being flexible, encourage and support each other. We need someone who likes to play games, get involved and have fun.
Fancy yourself as a bit of a survivalist? Then why not help teach young people some new and different ways to light fires. You just need to make sure it’s safe as well as fun. If you’re an expert marshmallow-roaster, then come along and help young people develop skills for life.
Young people love to build dens. But it’s not just about how much fun they have, or the amazing memories they make. They’re learning to work together, think for themselves and play their part. Scouts prepares young people with skills for life. As a Section Assistant with 1st Shiremoor Scout Group you can use your skills to help young people find theirs. We have vacancies for a Section Assistant in both Beavers (6-8 year olds) and Cubs (8 -10 1/2 year olds).
